28: Good schools for Aupair, such as ESL, near our house < It will depend on whether the au-pair can drive in Ireland or not, and what kind of school she wants.  I speak 4 languages fluently (English, French, German and Spanish) and some Japanese so I can provide some guidance and instruction on language acquisition.  There are schools in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford which is about a 20 minute drive.  >

35: Aupair job description < My children will be in school all day so the au-pair's responsibilities will be minimal during the day.  I am a stay-at-home mother so I remain close to home.  The au-pair will never be fully responsible for the children for any extended period of time.  My children are very well behaved and the two boys speak excellent Japanese.  Emmett finishes up Yochien tomorrow and Desmond finishes up 1st grade tomorrow.  They are both in ALL Japanese school with no English instruction. 
I understand that au-pairs generally do light housework and some cooking.  We love Japanese food, so we would like to continue to enjoy the occasional Japanese meal.  (The kids and I made tamago-yaki for their obento for tomorrow!)
I partially home school the children now.  I teach them English reading and writing at home since we live in a Japanese community here and they need to keep their English up.  Next year, when we are in Ireland and the children are receiving their instruction in English, I would like the au-pair to continue working through the next level of school Japanese text book.  I will bring preschool, 1st grade and 2nd grade texts with us.  The instruction is not difficult, just hiragana, katakana, 2nd grade kanji and reading kids books with and to the children in Japanese.  I assist with the Japanese school work with the children now and will also continue to work with them.  We simply need a native Japanese speaker to facilitate the learning for us- I am not asking her to be a teacher.  We anticipate returning to Japan in 2010 so I do not want the children to lose their Japanese language ability. 

I recommend a weekly salary of $75. 

 (I think $200 a week is a VERY high salary.  The expected salary for au-pairs in Europe per my research is $50/week with room and board paid for.   Are you aware of some other standard?  I know that the base salary in America is higher- $150 and up/ week.  Please advise.)　>

36: Message to Aupairs < We are an American Air Force family presently living at Kadena Air Base, on Okinawa Japan.  We will be leaving Okinawa in May and heading to California for 3 months.  We will then fly to Ireland to spend the school year in the countryside outside of Waterford.  We will be moving into a fully furnished house.  I will be looking for assistance for the school year in Ireland, from September 2009 to June 2010 while my husband is deployed overseas for the year.  My children attend Japanese school on Okinawa.  Desmond is 1 nen sei at chogakko, Emmett is finishing Yochien in 2 weeks and Mary attends preschool.  My preference for a Japanese aupair is so that the children can continue to speak and learn Japanese.  They have done a wonderful job here over the past 2 1/2 years.  In addition, they LOVE Japanese food- especially onigiri and chahan!  The boys read and write in Japanese.  I would like the aupair to continue with their Japanese oral and written skills.  Please consider our request carefully.
